& Jeremy Okai Davis
June 14 - 16, 2019 || $365.00
Jeremy Okai Davis, PDX based artist
Students will work from a combination of life and photographs to learn creative methods of rendering a portrait and creating an interesting composition. We will discuss various starting techniques and methods for planning your composition. The workshop will cover key concepts including light & shadow, shapes, values & edges and color theory as it relates to portraits using acrylic paint. Technical instruction will be supplemented with brief lectures and one on one assistance during the weekend. We will approach paintings with a focus on loosening up and enjoying the process with less concern on realism and more on finding a comfort during the creation of your works of art.
This 2-day workshop takes place at Plum Nelli, a small farmstead located on Marrowstone Island in Washington state, and includes an opening artist talk on Friday evening with libations. On Saturday and Sunday, we’ll share a farm-to-table lunch, and you’ll have ample time in the late afternoon to continue to paint in the Studio or explore Marrowstone Island. Plum Nelli is a place to unwind, rest, create and discover… all while surrounded by a splendid Pacific Northwest landscape. Given the small class size, you’ll have ample one-on-one instruction with Jeremy.
This workshop is appropriate for beginning/intermediate acrylic painters. Some experience is recommended.
